Satin Sheets & Skinny Dippin'

It's not what you're thinking!  ;)  Satin Sheets and Skinny Dippin' are my favorite Scentsy scents.  I have a lot of friends that sell Scentsy (it's getting a little hard to determine who to buy from - I try to spread the love).  My friend Amy recently started her business.  She hosted a Scentsy party this weekend and wanted some cookies as favors.

Once again, I didn't have cutter for this particular star.  The stars on the Scentsy logo are not perfect stars so I created a template and cut them out with a knife.

I can honestly say that I have never had experience with satin sheets or skinny dipping so I guess I am living through my Scentsy scents.  ;)

If you have never tried Scentsy, log on to Amy's page to find out what it is all about.

Cookies for a Cause

My friend Merideth hosted a Market Night at her home where she invited different vendors to come and sell their goods.  A portion of the proceeds were donated to the Jacobsen's Research Group in her son, Brady's name.  Brady was diagnosed with Jacobsen's Syndrome (also known as 11Q) at 14 months.  He has been to numerous doctors and undergone 3 surgeries in his four years of life.  Merideth and her husband feel blessed that Brady is on the mild side of the syndrome.  The funds raised will go to the advancement in research since the syndrome is so rare (about 250 cases known world wide) and to help others diagnosed that are on the more sever side of the syndrome.

I contributed 2 dozen cookies for the event.  Merideth said that Brady loves baseball, football and basketball so I went with sports for the theme.

For those that attended the Market Night and place an order for cookies any time this year, 50% of proceeds will be donated to the Jacobsen's Research Group in Brady's name.

If you want to learn more about Jacobsen's Syndrome, visit http://www.11qusa.org/.

Thanks Merideth for including me in this important cause.

Sweets for my Sweet Monkey

My oldest, Austin turned five last weekend. With the help of the amazing ladies of Anders Ruff, I created a monkey birthday party for him.  Details from the party to come at the Heflin House.

Of course I made the sweets for his party....

Monkey cookie favors

"5" cookie favors

Vanilla and chocolate cupcakes with vanilla buttercream

I think I am still in shock that he is five!

A Girl's Best Friend

That's right...diamonds!  My friend Claire wanted cupcakes for her friend that is getting married.  Isn't she sweet???  I am addicted to making cupcake decorations out of royal icing.  They are very delicate however and break really easy.  I made these diamond rings and painted on the silver pearl dust and rainbow disco dust.  I just love them.

Dragons & Fairies

Sweet Kate from CupKate's Event Design contacted me for some dragon cookies.  She hosted a princess party for her daughter and thoughtfully included the boys at the party with these cookies.  The pics from the party will be up on her blog soon and I can't wait to see them!

I had no idea how to do these since I haven't made dragons before.  I don't have a dragon cookie cutter either so I had to get a little creative.  I searched for an image of a dragon that I liked; not to real looking and not too animated.  I then drew an outline on paper and used that as a template for cutting out the cookies.  Kate wanted the dragon to be green and have a red tongue.  I really like the way they turned out.

I also created some Abby Cadabby cookies for little Katelynn.  I had to research this one too because I wasn't too familiar with Abby Cadabby from Sesame Street.
